Rug Cleaning in Forest Acres
Collection and delivery in Forest Acres are included. We take the rug back to the workshop, wash it properly, and bring it home.
What Forest Acres is built from
Its own incorporated city inside Richland County, east of Columbia along Forest Drive and Trenholm Road. Mid-century brick ranches and split-levels on wooded lots, a good deal of 1990s and later infill, and a chain of small lakes and ponds strung along Gills Creek where it runs through the middle of it all.
Settled, family and retiree households with a lot of second-generation ownership. Rugs here span everything from a good Persian in the front room to hand-tufted wool in the den, and a great many of them sit on hardwood over crawlspace.
The Forest Acres problem
Water is the local memory, and it is fresh water rather than anything coastal. On 4 October 2015 Gills Creek rose to 17.08 feet, against a previous record crest of 9.43 feet set in July 1997; eighteen dams were breached or collapsed across the state that week and the city went onto a boil-water advisory. Freshwater flooding is not clean water. It crosses lawns, driveways, roads and storm drains before it reaches a floor, and a rug that took it is a decontamination problem rather than a drying one — contamination in a wool foundation cannot be dried out, it has to be flushed out. Smaller versions of the same thing happen most summers, because the rain here peaks in the warm months and arrives as afternoon thunderstorms sitting over the same watershed. Between storms it is the ordinary Forest Acres problem: a shaded lot, a crawlspace, and a den rug that has not been lifted in fifteen years.
If that sounds like your rug, send the form and describe what you are seeing. We will tell you whether it needs the full treatment or not.
