Rug Cleaning in Irmo

What Irmo is built from
Northwest of the city on the Richland and Lexington line, spreading between the Harbison corridor and the eastern arm of Lake Murray. Mostly subdivision housing from the 1970s through the 1990s with a steady layer of newer building on top, on crawlspace and slab, under a heavy cover of loblolly pine.
Families and retirees in roughly equal measure, plenty of second and third owners in houses now forty or fifty years old, and a boat or a trailer on a good number of the driveways.
The Irmo problem
Two things arrive on the floor here that are specific to this side of town. The first is pine. Those loblollies drop a yellow pollen load through March and April that gets into everything, and pine needles and resin come in with it — resin is sticky, it holds grit against the fibre, and it does not respond to anything you can do with a vacuum. The second is the lake. Irmo households are on and off the eastern end of Lake Murray all summer, and what comes back through the door is freshwater silt, launch-ramp clay, wet dogs, wet towels and wet feet, walked across a rug in a hall or a den. Freshwater damp leaves no salt behind, so the fibre is not being held wet the way a coastal rug is — but it is repeatedly wetted, and a wool foundation that is soaked and half-dried twenty times over one summer starts to smell and starts to weaken. Add crawlspaces under most of these houses and there is not much drying capacity underneath the rug either.
